Electric Light Orchestra is a sound installation that is driven by the failed attempts at powering up a series of neon-tube lights. The installation mimics a traditional rock band (hence the name) but the only sounds that are heard are clicks, hisses and hums. Not unlike the early glitch music works. With the small difference that this is the sound of pure electric power; Microphones pick up the tiny sounds of volts trying to turn on the light and amplify those sounds through a couple of classic Marshall rock-amps. The result is a completely unpredictable rythmic pattern in a set-up that gives way to a new notion of 100% random, or more precisely: 100% un-intended music performed by a series of analog processes.
